Treye

Privacy policy

Effective 8 October 2026

Treye is an eye test on your phone. This page says what the Treye app collects, why, who else handles it, how long it is kept and how you delete it. Treye does not sell your data.

What Treye collects

  • Your account. When you sign in with Apple or Google, Treye receives your email address and, if the provider shares it, your name. Nothing else from your Apple or Google account is requested.
  • Details about the person taking the test. Name, age, gender, work and what they mostly do on their phone. You can take tests for family members, and Treye keeps these details for each of them.
  • Eye test results. The measurements from each test on each eye, the report's words, the table in an eye care professional's format, the date and how long the test took.
  • The spoken summary. A recording of Treye's own voice reading the summary at the end of the test, and its transcript. Your own voice is not recorded or stored by Treye.
  • A photo of each eye. After the tests, the app takes one close photo of the outside of each eye, for an eye care professional to look at. Treye does not analyse or interpret these photos.
  • Screen time, on Android only and only if you allow it. With Android's Usage access permission, the app reads how long the phone was used each day over the last 30 days. Only the average per day is sent with a test and stored with its report.

What stays on your phone

The front camera is used throughout the test to measure how far your eyes are from the screen. Those camera frames are processed on the phone and are never stored or sent anywhere, apart from the two eye photos described above. The app also keeps a copy of your reports on the phone so they open without a connection; signing out or deleting your account removes that copy.

How your voice is handled

During a test, what you say is streamed to Google's Gemini service so Treye can hear your answers and reply. When the test ends, the session's transcript and results are sent to Gemini once more to write the report. Google processes this under its paid Gemini API terms, which do not allow Google to use it to improve its products.

Why Treye uses it

To run the eye test, to write and keep your reports, to let you see the history of your family's tests, and to keep the service secure, for example by limiting how many tests an account can save in a day. Treye shows no ads. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before it does.

Who else handles your data

  • Supabase stores your account, reports, spoken summaries and eye photos, in Mumbai, India.
  • Google runs the Gemini service for the voice test and the report, and provides Google sign-in.
  • Apple provides Sign in with Apple on iPhone.

Each acts on Treye's instructions. Treye shares your data with no one else, except where the law requires it.

Google user data

If you sign in with Google, Treye uses only your email address and name, only to create and identify your account. Treye's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. It is never used for advertising, never sold and never used to train AI models.

How long it is kept, and deleting it

Your data is kept until you delete it. You can delete a single report, or delete your account from Profile in the app. Deleting your account removes your account, every family member, every report, every spoken summary and every eye photo. Copies in the database provider's backups expire on its normal schedule.

Security

Data travels encrypted between the app and Treye's servers and is encrypted where it is stored. Each account can read only its own data, enforced in the database itself. Spoken summaries and eye photos sit in private storage that only their owner's account can open.

Children

Accounts are for adults. A parent or guardian can add a child as a family member and take the test with them; the parent or guardian is responsible for the details they enter.

Your rights

You can see your data in the app at any time, correct a family member's details by taking a new test with them, and delete everything as described above. To ask for a copy of your data, or for anything else about it, write to manishpratapsingh@gmail.com. You can also raise a grievance at that address.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
